Expert Camping Tips For The Beginning Camper

Camping is one of the greatest and most unique feelings the world has to offer you. Nothing beats breathing clean, fresh air while taking in the spectacular beauty of nature. If you want to start camping and seeing nature for yourself, then use following tips to give you a little guidance.

Pick out your sleeping bag according to what season it is. You don’t want to sweat all night because you brought a sleeping bag that is suitable for winter in the middle of the summer. Conversely, if you bring a light-weight sleeping bag to a winter camping trip, you can be extremely uncomfortable the entire time. In the worst case, you could be putting yourself at risk of getting frostbite or even worse.

To increase your sleeping experience while camping, bring a pad along that you can place under your sleeping bag. This pad acts as a barrier between you and the hard ground where twigs and tree knots may cause strange sleeping conditions. If a pad isn’t handy, bring a few extra blankets that you can fold over on themselves to create some cushion.

Particularly, if you have children, you need to consider what to do if you have inclement weather one day. Gather together a few supplies to have on hand in case you need to stay in your tent. Bring a board game, play doh and art supplies. Don’t let your family members touch these items until it rains so that they don’t lose their appeal.

Figure out your new gear before you go camping. The practice does really help. No one wants to get to the campground, only to find out that they don’t know how to use something or set up their own tent. Practice with your new gear before you ever set foot on the campground.

Make sure that you both carry a survival kit and then get in the habit of always having it with you. Things to include in your survival pack are a knife, matches that are waterproof, first aid kit, flares and tablets to purify water. If you are injured or lose your way, this will give you a greater chance of survival. Be sure to carry it on your person and not leave it at your campsite.

If you’d like to prevent mosquito bites, but want to avoid using harsh chemicals, use an orange peel instead. Rub the orange peel over exposed areas of the skin, such as the neck, arms, face and legs to naturally repel mosquitoes. Not only will the orange peels feel better on your skin than traditional repelling chemicals, but they will smell better, too!

You need to maintain your cleanliness while camping. Good hygiene is difficult when you are camping sometimes, but you can keep yourself clean. A bottle of hand sanitizer is excellent to have so you can clean hands before eating. You can also use rubbing alcohol on areas of your body that are not sensitive. A mild biodegradable soap and a sponge can be used to take mini-baths when water resources are low.

If you are going camping with your pets or children, you need to take a few extra precautions. Try to teach your kids the basics of camping safety. They need to know what to do if they get lost and should each have a small survival kit. Make sure you have leashes for any pets and make sure they are current with all vaccinations.

You won’t find many life experiences that rival camping. Through camping, you can see and feel every aspect of nature. Use these tips to have a relaxing trip to your desired location.
