How To Make Camping A Fun Adventure

With popular reality programming focused on the outdoors, it is no wonder that we are seeing a resurgence of interest in camping. If camping is something that you have been considering for some time, but you are not sure where to begin, you can find the information you need in the article below.

If you are camping at a public campground, make sure you pack shower shoes for everyone in your party. Not only will they protect your feet from the bacteria on the shower floor, but they are great for those nighttime runs to the bushes when you need to use the restroom. They can be old flip flops, Crocs, or even slip-ons.

When you are camping, a necessity for your gear is a survival knife. This is the most important part of your camping gear. Buy a high quality survival knife, not just the cheapest you can find, your life may depend on it. These knives are all very similar; they have a long blade serrated on one side and a hollow handle. Inside the handle you can carry fishing line, hooks, a compass, and matches as a small survival kit.

Take only photos and leave only footprints. That is the rule of thumb when camping. Only use the natural resources that you need and do not leave any traces that you were camping when you leave. Pick up all trash, extinguish and cover any fire pits, bury all human waste, and make the area where you camped look exactly as it did when you found it.

If you are traveling with children, consider staying at a campground that is specifically designated for families. Campers in these areas know what to expect and will not have an issue if you have a cranky toddler or your children want to run around, scream and play. You will probably be more relaxed as a result and have a better time.

Before you start out on that relaxing camping trip, it is essential for your safety to make sure to let someone know you are going. Give a friend or neighbor the name of the campsite if you are using one. If you are headed out on a less structured trip, give your contact a general idea of where you are headed and a timeline for your return. If something goes wrong, there will be someone to know where to look for you.

The lint from the dryer actually is great to help start campfires. Collect your dryer lint about a month before you go camping. Keep a simple plastic or ziplock bag near your dryer to make collecting easier. The morning of your departure, all you need to do is grab the bag and depart, kindling sorted!

Use specialty camping pillows when camping. If you use your bedroom pillows, the humid weather will make them feel hot and sticky. These pillows will also retain water from the air during humid conditions, so they can mildew. Camping pillows are specially coated to prevent moisture absorption.

Bring everything that you will need before starting out on your camping trip. You can not afford to forget an important item like your sleeping bag or your tent. Double check all your supplies to make sure they are accounted for and in working condition. Do this before you leave.

Many people are deterred from camping because they have to sleep on the ground, but you do not have to be uncomfortable when you go camping. Stop by the local drug store and purchase some inexpensive pool floats. These are far more comfortable than the ground to sleep on, and will keep you high and dry as well.

There are several things to consider about camping. Now you should be prepared to deal with whatever comes up. Since you know more, you can sit back and focus on relaxing while you are camping.
